What is the FOHBC Virtual Museum?

The FOHBC Virtual Museum has been established to display, inform, educate, and enhance the enjoyment of historical bottle and glass collecting by providing an online virtual museum experience for significant historical bottles and other items related to early glass.

Who is the FOHBC?

The Federation of Historical Bottle Collectors (FOHBC) is a non-profit organization supporting collectors of historical bottles, flasks, jars, and related items.

The goal of the FOHBC is to promote the collection, study, preservation and display of historical bottles and related artifacts and to share this information with other collectors and individuals.

MISSION AND GOALS

The mission of the Federation of Bottle Collectors (FOHBC) is to encourage growth and public awareness of the antique bottle hobby and to enhance the enjoyment of such through collecting, dealing and educational endeavors and to promote fair and ethical conduct within the antique bottle hobby.

HISTORY

The Virtual Museum concept was first proposed by Federation president Richard Siri in 2009 when he asked fellow board member Ferdinand Meyer V to consider the proposal and develop a presentation which occurred at the March 2011 Baltimore board meeting.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The governing body of the FOHBC Virtual Museum is its Board of Directors, and this executive body, also referred to as the Board, shall be charged with making policy decisions and implementing all current bylaws and programs, as well as the day-to-day operations of the FOHBC Virtual Museum. The Board of Directors shall consist of a Primary Developer, two Directors-at-Large, and one Designer. Read more

BUDGET & FUNDING

The FOHBC Virtual Museum relies on a variety of funding sources to grow and sustain. This includes Donations, Membership Subscriptions and FOHBC Merchandise. Your support enables the Museum to share its collection and information with thousands of visitors each year, helping the widest possible audience to understand and enjoy American Historical Bottles and Glass.

Fundraising as of July 2019 represents $34,006.98. Our goal for Phase 1 for $30,000 was achieved in August 2018. The FOHBC thanks all donors for their generosity. Please contribute to the Virtual Museum effort in order to treach our $60,000 goal for Phase 2. You may donate to the Virtual Museum here.

FUTURE PROJECTS

The landmark FOHBC Virtual Museum currently showcases the following galleries: Bitters and Historical Flasks. The spirits gallery which includes whiskies, bourbons, gins etc. is being worked on by Eric McGuire. This will be our third gallery. Eric is moving forward nicely and we are looking good here. Eric, as some of you know, is a first rate researcher who has written many articles for Bottles and Extras. Read more

COLLECTORS

We seek collectors that have researched bottles and glass from their area and know the history about them. The FOHBC Virtual Museum relies on volunteers to assist with providing historical content.
